Robert C. Lautman, Photographer

1923-2009

Robert Lautman's memorial service will be held at The National Building Museum December 4th at 6:30 PM.

The majority of the photographs on this site, as well as those in all books on the work of Hugh and Simon Jacobsen, are the remarkable work of one of the world's finest photographers, Robert C. Lautman. Hugh and Bob began working together in the 1950's, and through their friendship and devotion to each other's art, built a relationship so celebrated that one without the other was simply incomplete.

Robert Lautman's work won The AIA's Gold Medal for Architectural Photography -- the highest award given by the AIA. Bob was sought after by leading architects, documentary film makers and magazines world-wide for his intelligent eye and technical genius. For these and so many other things that are quintessential Bob, we are truly grateful for his generosity, insight, and most of all, his friendship.

The issue isn't if we will miss him; it is if we will ever recover from losing him.
