Q.Why is the laundry room so far away from the bedroom wing? Can it be moved?

As the building was in the development process, LIFE Magazine gave us a lengthy survey of American opinions on the way some like to live. Two issues stood out when it came to the position of the laundry room in regards to the rest of the house:

1. The people surveyed said they wanted the laundry room near the kitchen.

2. The people surveyed said they like to do a load of laundry and go to bed and not hear the machines rattling about.

Q.Can you move it to another location?

A: Yes. There is room for a washer and dryer in the closet at the end of the long gallery in the bedroom wing.
