Telluride Residence

Gray Head, Telluride, Colorado. USA

Just outside of Telluride town proper (and just out of the box) sits a ten pavilioned winter vacation residence designed by Simon and Hugh Jacobsen. At an elevation of 10,000 (in the air that is) the house had to address the unusual laws of physics that occur due to rapidly changing temperatures and extreme elements. A complex set of environmental computers efficiently monitor and adjust for solar and air temperature changes that can be rapid and unanticipated for each pavilion and space. Because of its high altitude, the house also uses radiant "air conditioned floors."
